Frequently asked Questions
How can I receive support from the Fundação Jornada?
Applying to the Foundation’s Programs for supporting projects by young people, with young people, and for young people. All legally established entities with a tax registration in Portugal may submit an application. This includes youth and cultural associations, social economy organizations, parishes, cooperatives, foundations, or public and private educational institutions, for example. Informal groups of young people may also apply through one of these entities. The Foundation supports projects focused on or led by young people aged 15 to 35 who are residents of Portugal.
I am young, but I am not Catholic. Can I apply for support from the Foundation?
Of course! Building a peaceful world and a more just, supportive, sustainable and inclusive society are goals that bring “everyone, everyone, everyone” together, as Pope Francis has clearly demonstrated throughout his pontificate. And his message of inclusion and closeness is one of the great legacies left by WYD Lisbon 2023, which the Fundação Jornada wants to perpetuate. Regardless of their nature, whether religious, cultural or social, applications for support from the Fundação must, of course, be aligned with the strategic dimensions of bringing young people together, empowering them and encouraging them to build the common good.
I am foreigner residing in Portugal. Can I apply for support from the Fundação?
Yes. There are only two requirements you must have: 1) your project or entity must be legally constituted and have its tax representation in national territory, and 2) the target audience of your project must be resident in Portugal.
What are the most relevant areas for the Fundação Jornada support?
The Foundation supports projects that bring young people closer together, empower them, and inspire them to take action. Bring closer refers to promoting spirituality, mental health, and self-awareness among young people through personal and community experiences of prayer, discernment, service to others, and more. Empower includes projects that promote young people’s access to learning opportunities and the strengthening of knowledge and skills for the positive transformation of society. Inspire represents the promotion of youth leadership as an active voice in society and the encouragement of young people to develop projects oriented toward the Common Good.
